Sacred Mandala Art by Ekarasa

About the Artist

euphoria mandala art I was born in Croatia and lived in Italy for several years before settling in New Zealand. At an early age I became actively involved in arts and creative scene. Experimental photography was my first expression with solo and collective exhibitions. I became fascinated by the vibrancy of the flower's colours, the beautiful organic shapes and their ephemeral nature.
I used to contemplate the light for hours, the reflection of the sun in a drop of water and the rainbow of light being created. I wanted to paint the light. I have always been very attracted to deepening my knowledge of the relationships between colour, shape and sound. This led me to start painting mandalas. I started to paint them with soft pastels and their softness, vibrancy, saturation, and richness was very inspiring to work with and still is for me.
New Zealand has been very nurturing, the ocean and the spirit of the land has been very inspiring for my artwork and it's where a new expression has started to manifest and grow. I do overtone singing and chanting as I paint, with sound being an essential part of the creation process. Overtones are the expression of visual patterns through sound and are used to further potentize the viewers experience by reconnecting them with their inner-self. Time spent in meditation retreat and in the creative process has deepened my realization of the unity between shape and sound which finds its expression in my work. The aim of this art form is to bring harmony, peace and joy.
